Avoid Skipping Meals
This week I would like to discuss what happens to your body when you skip a meal. After about 3-4 hours of not eating the first thing that happens is your blood sugar decreases. Once your blood sugar decreases there are many side effects that will start to occur. Your brain uses glucose (sugar) to run efficiently and when there is a limit in supply you will start to have trouble thinking straight. Low blood sugar also makes people feel irritable, confused, and fatigued, which then leads to an increase in cortisol levels leaving us stressed and hangry.
One of the biggest factors I notice when I have a client who skips meals is their extremely slow metabolism. We know once our metabolism slows down the weight begins to pile on and it makes it even harder to lose weight. I know it is easy to get busy throughout the day and forget to eat; so make sure you are planning ahead, setting a timer on your phone, whatever you have to do to make sure you are eating something every couple of hours.
