Fall/Winter Vitamin D

It is no secret that your body needs Vitamin D. Vitamin D is crucial for bodily functions, like instructing your gut to absorb calcium and phosphorous. One of the issues with Vitamin D is the source from which you get it. There are a handful of foods that naturally contain Vitamin D, such as swordfish, salmon, tuna, beef liver, cod liver oil, and sardines to name a few. However, when was the last time you looked forward to some beef liver or cod liver oil?

Luckily there is an alternative source for Vitamin D, the Sun. Some studies have found that exposure to the sun for short periods of time, at key times in the day, significantly contribute to your Vitamin D.

With colder weather coming up fast, we are more likely to stay indoors. This can cause an issue with folks who don’t take in their Vitamin D through food sources. So during this time it is important to make an effort to take in more foods or supplements that carry our Vitamin D recommendation.
