Tip of the Week!

Staying Motivated Working Out at Home!!!

I have pretty much had a gym membership my whole life because the few times I tried to work out from home it was a struggle. Unlike going to a gym there are just so many distractions that can keep you from working out. I understand there are a lot of Soldiers that cannot have a gym membership for many different reasons, so their only choice is to workout at home. This week I wanted to give some tips on staying motivated and most importantly consistent with working out at home.

The first thing you need to do is choose a space in your house that is going to be your workout area. There are many days I just don’t feel like working out, but once I step foot in the gym my body knows it’s go time and I will get a boost of energy. By working out in the same area in your home you can try to replicate the stimulus we all get by going to a gym.

Procrastination is a huge problem with people working out at home. The second tip is to set a time each day to exercise and be relentless with keeping your schedule. If you can workout at the same time everyday your body will get on a schedule and you will notice an increase in energy when it’s time to work out.

My third tip is to leave all electronics in the other room that may distract you during your workout. It’s so easy when you’re working out at home to get a text or email during your workout and next thing you know you’re sitting at your computer working. When you’re working out at a gym you can easily just reply to a text or email saying I’m at the gym and I will contact you later, but at home it tends to be much harder.
